Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the role of public relations of the ministry of communication and information (communication and information) in disseminating information to the people of Jakarta. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive case study methods, data collection techniques through observation and in-depth interviews with the selection of informants based on certain criteria. The results of the research show that the role of public relations and communications and information technology in disseminating information to the people of Central Jakarta is still not optimal. This is due to the lack of unavailability of information that can be accessed by the public causing the non-optimal role of the public relations and information department in disseminating information to the public about the government and other fields. Government information that should be accessible on websites and social media, as well as the Main Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID) whose role is held by the Public Relations Bureau, information that should be accessible via the website. This is in contrast to several Regional Work Units (SKPD) whose function is only PPID Assistants, but they are ready to provide information to the public through a managed website. Therefore, there needs to be an increase in the work unit in communication and information technology.
