Abstract

The development of technology as an information medium, of course, cannot be separated from the use of Instagram social media in society which will certainly affect one of the stages of development for young students to get information. The use of social media as a medium of information greatly facilitates society in this modern era. This study aims to determine the use of Instagram accounts as Information Media for Gunadarma University Students. The theory used is the Theory of CMC (Computer Mediated Communication). The methodology used in this study is a qualitative method by observing, documenting, and interviewing several informants involved in the research. Data analysis methods used are data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. Theresults of thestudyfoundthat theuseof theInstagramaccount @anakgundardotco can be used as a medium of information. The use of social media for students as a medium of information is very reliable because in modern times people have used social media as a means of interaction in exchanging information. Based on the theory of CMC (Computer Mediated Communication), research informants that the use of the Instagram account @anakgundardotco uses a smartphone to convey information (Computer) then Gunadarma University students use features on Instagram such as posts, mentions, hashtags, and so on (Mediated ) to interact or communicate with fellow Instagram users to exchange information with one another (Communication)
