Abstract

Persuasive communication is the process of conveying messages to communicants, which is a very important thing whose purpose is, among others, to change the attitudes, views, opinions, and behavior of communicants to become consultants. The issue of bullying in the school environment, especially at the junior high school level, is a concern because of the many cases that occur. This research focuses on teachers' persuasive communication strategies as an effort to prevent student bullying cases at school, with the aim of increasing positive attitudes and self-confidence of students involved in bullying cases. Each teacher has a different way for them to give understanding to their students so that they do not commit acts of bullying or do not repeat them, because each student has a different character, so it is certain that the way to give understanding to students so that they understand will be different ways too. One way is by advising students to give understanding slowly and continuously convincing so that students understand, besides that the teacher will provide guidance to students. Symbolic Interaction Theory (George Herbert Mead and Herbert Blumer) explains that a person's behavior is influenced by symbols, such as understanding, discipline, confidence, and guidance. These symbols are used in interactions between teachers and students to prevent bullying. Students' behavior in action is influenced by how parents and teachers control them.
